Another great track from the Finnish band I’ve come to love since Max Payne. (Late Goodbye and Carnival of Rust are awesome tracks as well).
Lift is a song that reminds me of the 80s for some reason, and gives me the feeling of motion–great driving track. And the lyrics are very poetic as well.
Times when I just can’t
Bring myself to say it loud
‘Fraid that what I’ll say comes out somehow awry
That is when it seems
We move in circles day to day
Twist the drama of the play to get us by
And it feels like fear
Like I’ll disappear
Gets so hard to steer
Yet I go on
Do we need debate
When it seems too late
Like I bleed but wait
Like nothing’s wrong
You lift my spirit, take me higher, make me fly,
Touch the moon up in the sky, when you are mine
You lift me higher, take my spirit, make it fly,
Where all new wonders will appear
Like the other day
I thought you won’t be coming back
I came to realize my lackluster dreams
And among the schemes
And all the tricks we try to play
Only dreams will hold their sway and defy
When it feels like fear…
Like I’ll disappear
Gets so hard to steer
Yet I go on
Do we need debate
When it seems too late
Like I bleed but wait
Like nothing’s wrong
You lift my spirit, take me higher, make me fly,
Touch the moon up in the sky, when you are mine
You lift me higher, take my spirit, make it fly,
Where all new wonders will appear, oooohhhh
You lift my spirit, take me higher, make me fly,
Touch the moon up in the sky, when you are mine
You lift me higher, take my spirit, make it fly,
Where all new wonders will appear
Take me high
Make me fly

After Late Goodbye I chanced upon this song by Poets Of The Fall and I loved it completely. More mood music for those pensive moments.
Evocative lyrics as well.
D’ you breathe the name of your saviour in your hour of need,
n’ taste the blame if the flavor should remind you of greed,
Of implication, insinuation and ill will, till’ you cannot lie still,
In all this turmoil, before red cape and foil closing in for a kill
Come feed the rain
Cos I’m thirsty for your love dancing underneath the skies of lust
Yeah feed the rain
Cos without your love my life ain’t nothing but this carnival of rust
It’s all a game, avoiding failure, when true colors will bleed
All in the name of misbehavior and the things we don’t need
I lust for after no disaster can touch us anymore
And more than ever, I hope to never fall, where enough is not the same it was before
Come feed the rain…
Don’t walk away, don’t walk away, oh, when the world is burning
Don’t walk away, don’t walk away, oh, when the heart is yearning

Just saw Max Payne the movie tonight. Nothing special, despite the best efforts of Mark Wahlberg. I did watch the movie in honor of the fantastic game–and to get a fix of that good old Max Payne feeling, here’s the soundtrack of Max Payne 2: The Late Goodbye by Poets of the Fall.
Great song.
in our headlights, staring, bleak, beer cans, deer’s eyes
on the asphalt underneath, our crushed plans and my lies
lonely street signs, powerlines, they keep on flashing, flashing by
and we keep driving into the night
it’s a late goodbye, such a late goodbye
and we keep driving into the night
it’s a late goodbye
your breath hot upon my cheeck, and we crossed, that line
you made me strong when I was feeling weak, and we crossed, that one time
screaming stop signs, staring wild eyes, keep on flashing, flashing by
and we keep driving into the night
it’s a late goodbye, such a late goodbye
and we keep driving into the night
it’s a late goodbye
the devil grins from ear to ear when he sees the hand he’s dealt us
points at your flaming hair, and then we’re playing hide and seek
I can’t breathe easy here, less our trail’s gone cold behind us
till’ in the john mirror you stare at yourself grown old and weak
and we keep driving into the night
it’s a late goodbye, such a late goodbye…

Fantastic track from the movie: Requiem For A Dream. Perfect music for watching markets crash, nations disintegrate, lives lost, dreams shattered, ideals broken, blood spilled, innocence lost. Turn up volume, max the bass and highlight the treble. Listen intently from beginning to end to appreciate the carnage.
Everything you know is wrong.

No self-respecting kid of the 80s will forget the impact that Transformers made on their childhood. Arguably, this kiddie cartoon helped shape the minds of today’s leaders (along with GI Joe, He-Man, Robotech, and the Super Friends).
The release of the recent live-action movie was a treat for Transformers fans young and old, and with the release of the movie came modern takes on the familiar musical scores from the TV series and the movie.

Still currently can’t shake The Dark Knight fever. Here’s more multimedia to satisfy your tortured souls, music from the original Nolan Film: Batman Begins, which also form the template for the soundtrack of The Dark Knight. I’ve added these songs to Sound Therapy as well, which you should all check out if you haven’t lately, since the song list has grown quite a ways since I first put it up.
Meanwhile, thanks to Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard, we can all listen and weep!

Feel like zoning out to The Pharmacy(tm) tunes? Click the Sound Therapy link under Alternative Therapies on the sidebar to get a taste of the music that inspired the ramblings on this site.
The list of tunes will just get longer as time passes so click on it often to get a dose of musical inspiration.
UPDATE:
I’ve reorganized the songs into lists for faster loading. Also gave each tune a page of their own. Each song page now has a lyric sheet, youtube video, and a short anecdote about my relationship with that song.

Started the week fantastic with this cool song by Samantha James. Good inspiration especially for people like moi who are learning to let go of the world and allow things to happen as they should.
RISE
And everything I choose to do
You should believe that I’ll
Always come back to you
The love that we create
Life is a mystery
We need to embrace
In every way
You need to let go
You’ll see all your dreams will follow
In every way
You need to let go
People rise together
When they believe in tomorrow
Change today to forever
This life keeps movin’
Open your mind and see
We have everything we need
Dream or reality
Fulfill its destiny
In every way
You need to let go
You’ll see all your dreams will follow
In every way
You need to let go
